President of Mansoura University Oversees Implementation of Medical Projects

The President of Mansoura University is closely monitoring the progress of medical projects and has directed their swift completion to integrate them into the healthcare system as soon as possible.

He is holding on-site meetings with consultants and engineers at project locations to assess the execution status and workflow of each project.

Prof. Sherif Khater emphasized the university’s dedication to providing high-quality medical services as part of Egypt’s New Republic initiative. He reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to maintaining its leadership in the medical field.

The president has instructed strict adherence to project timelines to ensure the completion of all construction and equipment installations.

On Wednesday, January 15, 2025, Prof. Sherif Khater conducted an inspection tour to monitor the progress of ongoing medical infrastructure projects at Mansoura University. The visit aimed to assess the completion rates of construction work and ensure that projects are on schedule.

He was accompanied by Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Ashraf Shouma, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine; Prof. Sherif El-Badawy, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering; Prof. El-Sharawi Kamal, Executive Director of University Hospitals; and Mr. Saad Abdel Wahab, Secretary-General of the University.

The tour covered several key projects, including the Three Medical Centers Project, the renovation and expansion of the ICU at Children's Hospital, and the completion and space redistribution of the 7th floor at Children's Hospital.

Prof. Sherif Khater highlighted the university's commitment to accelerating medical projects to meet the increasing demand for healthcare services. Mansoura University provides medical care to nearly one-third of Egypt’s Delta population and patients from across the country.

This initiative aligns with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to modernize Egypt’s healthcare system and improve medical services under the New Republic vision. The university remains dedicated to maintaining its medical leadership and social responsibility by offering high-quality specialized healthcare services.

During the tour, the university president held field meetings with consultants, engineers, and contractors at the project sites. Discussions focused on the latest construction updates, progress rates, and challenges in each project.

He reviewed engineering plans, construction schedules, financial progress, and cash flow. The president also emphasized that the university is prepared to take necessary actions against contractors who fail to meet project deadlines.

Prof. Mohamed Abdel Azim provided an overview of the project timelines, financial status, and challenges, ensuring that all work is progressing as planned.

The university president urged all teams to accelerate project completion with the highest quality standards to enhance healthcare services. He confirmed that the completion of these medical projects would bring significant advancements in several critical medical specialties.

The inspection began at the Three Medical Centers Project, where Prof. Sherif Khater was joined by Prof. Wael Zakaria, Director of the Three Medical Centers; Prof. Khaled El-Toukhy, Deputy Director; and medical unit supervisors.

The project covers a total area of 7,500 m² with a capacity of 750 beds. It consists of a basement and eight floors.

Currently, the operational sections include outpatient clinics, administrative offices, lecture halls, radiology and catheterization units, the rheumatology and rehabilitation unit, and the neurophysiology unit.

Prof. Sherif Khater stressed the importance of prioritizing the next three months to ensure the timely completion of the second phase of the project.

This phase includes operating room capsules and ICU wards on the third floor, as well as patient accommodation wards on the fifth floor with a capacity of 160 beds.

The completion of these projects is expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in several critical medical specialties.
